KCBY Segments
|
KCBY-TVKCBY-TV is Coppell High School's student run broadcast television network. Being in this program furthered my interest in film and video editing, and allowed me to be creative in ways I hadn't before. I am part of the Special Features team, an elite group dedicated to making artistic or comedic segments rather than journalistic segments. Below I have some of the segments I have made or contributed to.

My partner and I poke fun at stereotypical high school boys in our satirical piece entitled "Things Coppell Boys Do". The storyboarding process was a very fun process, as I was able to explore basic concepts and exaggerate them for comedic purposes. The editing also was an enjoyable process, as I intermingled sequences between one another, which is something I had not done before.
For "The Real Housewives of Coppell", we wanted to poke fun at the overdramatized reality TV shows, but also relate it to our home town so our audience would have a more personal connection.
For "How to have an Aesthetically Pleasing Instagram Account" my team worked diligently and creatively to come up with a satirical piece that was well-filmed and funny.
This segment was the first of my team's so make the KCBY show. It was very difficult to find students involved, and we were able to turn the segment around in 3 days. Filmed on a canon T6 and T6i and edited on premier pro.

"Spread the Word to End the Word" was an extremely powerful and important segment I was able to work on. The segment was created late March, in honor of "Best Buddies" month at my school, which is a student run program in which intellectually disabled students can connect with their peers in a fun and learning environment, as well as the coming of National Autism Awareness month, which is April. I have been a very heavy advocate for the elimination of the r-word from everyone's vocabulary, and I was extremely proud of myself to be able to create this segment and spread such a powerful message.
"Exploring Coppell's Historic Cemeteries" was a very interesting piece to film. It took days of traveling to and filming each individual cemetery, as well as research and scripting writing. This segment is especially important to me because I personally had no idea how historic my home town is.
This segment was a challenge for my team because we were required to convince teachers/AP's to meet for our segment. There was lots of footage that was difficult to edit. Filmed on a canon T6 and T6i and edited on premier pro.

The story of "A Local Adventure" describes photographers struggling to find good locations in their hometown to shoot at. This piece encapsulates what my friends and I are all about: Creativity. We wanted to show people that you do not need a fancy studio or a beautiful location to create stunning works and real photography can be done anywhere. We also wanted to capture the beauty of our hometown.
With the Holiday season coming up, many people are looking for fun and affordable things to do. With "Free Holiday Activities Near Coppell", my team spent a whole weekend traveling to different activities, as well as shooting b-roll encouraging our audience to take the trip out to see these sites.
This segment was one of the more entertaining segments my team and I created. We really enjoyed using the artistic footage that we got whilst filming. Filmed on a canon T6 and T6i and edited on premier pro.
